I think we HAVE covered this topic before, but, YES - UNLESS you can beat EVERYBODY else out, and your bugout spot IS well-stocked, secure, and isolated... you probably ARE better off bugging in.
ESPECIALLY if you can hold out for a week or more - let all the UN-prepared zombies go out and get themselves perished first... so as to CLEAR the path for the prepared people to escape at their "leisure (a RELATIVE term, to be sure...)." I wouldn't count on surviving in a BIG city for long though, so the fine line between too EARLY and too LATE is one that must be respected indeed.
