An active burglary in progress is a "violent crime" hence, they will respond. It will free up officers from filling out paperwork so they CAN respond to the violent crimes, its not a license for every gun owner with a hard-on to start shooting willy-nilly.
I agree with this guy. The article said they would not respond to a burglary SCENE, not that they wouldnt respond to a burglary.
