RE: ZOMBIE RAMCHARGER (it LIVES!!!)!!! pt.1 - The War Wagon - 05-30-2016 Finally went 4-wheelin', @ Phoenix Offroad in Steubenville, OH on Saturday, 4/30! Met up with a friend & his daughter from a local Offroad forum on the way, caught up with my other Steeltown Offroader club members, and we even picked up a couple of other Jeepers, for a nice trail convoy. With an old limited slip rear/open diff front Ramcharger, I only got stuck twice (technically 3 times, but as we'd hit a dead end, and had to turn around, I was already crosswise, and was able to slide it back the way we came), cut down one tire, and I'm pretty sure I broke either a motor mount or a transmission mount. With #1 son along for the ride, giving me Autistic directions all day, it was a blast! Well... maybe not THAT bad. I didn't leave any sheet metal in OH. #1 son, helping on the jack! Zachary's (#1 son) commentary MAKES the videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbL-Klu6m_s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8MSJxSNubs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGhdiv3nu-g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnWbk5CF-6s NOT a bad idea to shakedown your BOV from time to time - find out what breaks, weaknesses, limitations, and yes - strengths too. The ol' RC was tougher than I thought, but it needs some more yet. I'll keep using the thread, to keep you posted. RE: ZOMBIE RAMCHARGER (it LIVES!!!)!!! pt.1 - ColdBlueSteel - 05-30-2016 All those pics, all that video and all I can think is, wow, a bumper jack! Please ignore the spelling, "autocorrect" should be renamed. Got mine! HOPE you can see it mounted there - 60" Hi-Lift! RE: ZOMBIE RAMCHARGER (it LIVES!!!)!!! pt.1 - Mr Bear - 07-21-2016 Good to see this beast is still alive. I got rid of the old 86 chevy I had. It died and sat for a while first. RE: ZOMBIE RAMCHARGER (it LIVES!!!)!!! pt.1 - The War Wagon - 07-21-2016 Well, I finally had to get off my duff and re-install the evap canister (blew it out with compressed air, popped to the top off and looked inside - the wire mesh is intact, clean, and bright - no rust - so it appears GTG), because Dave was FINALLY ready to take it in and replace the torque converter lock-up solenoid (went bad at Steubenville). Drove it for the first time in a month & a half over to the shop. A rolling start helps to keep it from bogging down, but it's really lugging when pulling hills. I'll be glad to get this squared away - I've got a wheeling weekend coming up, and want to make sure I get the RC there this time! |
